In just a few days ahead, the city police auxiliary force will be wearing a new type of uniform almost identical to what regular police officers are wearing.

Chief Inspector Anthony Padua, Digos City police chief said Mayor Arsenio Latasa has allocated the money to purchase the materials for the uniform that would provide a “new look” to more than twenty police auxiliaries in the city.

“Sa kanila kasing nakagawiang uniform na T-Shirt lang, biking shorts, at rubber shoes parang kulang ang respeto sa kanila ng mga tao. Pero sa bagong uniform design na ibibigay natin sa kanila sigurado ako na re-respetohin sila ng tao,” Padua said.

The police auxiliary force under the command of retired police Superintendent Manuel Parker is currently roving three urban barangays of the city using their issued sports bicycle. Others are sporting a night stick and a handcuff tucked at their waistline.

Padua said the auxiliary police should be given the respect due to them since they are contributing much on the maintenance of peace and order in the city.

“We really need their assistance due to the lack of police personnel assigned in the city. That’s why Mayor Latasa and the police office are giving them priorities to keep their morale high at all times,” Padua said.
