Retired soldier stabbed dead inside passenger bus

The passengers of a Holiday Bus went panic and jumped out of the vehicle when a still unidentified man stabbed another commuter at the back of the vehicle along the diversion road in the village of Tulogan in Hagonoy, Davao del Sur on the afternoon of Sunday.
Police Officer 1 Gerardo Lagahit, Hagonoy police investigator identified the victim who died on the spot due to multiple stab wounds as retired army Master Sergeant Rodrigo Timbol, 52, a resident of Bonifacio and Bataan Streets, Digos City.
 
Gerardo said Lagahit was seated at the back of the bus from General Santos City bound for Digos City.
 
The attacker went aboard the bus at Kilometer 80 in Sulop, Davao del Sur and positioned beside Lagahit.
 
Upon reaching the diversion road of the Guihing Bridge which is still under construction the man swiftly pulled a knife and stabbed the retired soldier hitting his arms, armpit, and left chest, the investigator said.
 
Lagahit said the driver to make a sudden stop as passengers rushed towards the door but the still unidentified attacker also escaped through the door and fled towards a sugarcane field along the road with the bloodied knife.
 
The investigator said some passengers overheard the killer shouting at them to calm down and fear not since the victim is a “pusher” and “robber”.
 
The police is eyeing on robbery as the motive behind the killing as the cellular phone and some of the victim’s money are missing.
 
However, Lagahit said they found Timbol’s wallet inside a black bag he was carrying with P1,460 in cash money.
 
The killer was described to be medium built, standing 5’4” in height and more or less 25 years old.
 
Inspector Jaime Senarillos, Hagonoy police chief said they are already conducting a follow up operations over the incident as they received reports the killer was sighted inside a passenger multi-cab bound to Padada town.
