What supposed to be a joyous evening for a father and his two sons turned bloody that cost one of their lives.
In a spot report submitted to the PNP provincial headquarters in Digos City, the Malita police identified the fatality as Timmy Benito, 35.

Delgado Benito, the younger brother of the victim tagged as the suspect. He fled after the incident.

The police said Timmy, Delgado and their father were drinking coconut wine (Tuba) in their residence at Sitio Manugka, Barangay Danwata, Malita, Davao del Sur early in the evening of August 16 when the incident took place.

Investigators said while in the midst of their drinking spree Timmy unwittingly recalled his previous grudges with his father that sparked a verbal tussle.

Delgado who was also intoxicated with wine spirit sneaked inside the house and grabbed the Caliber M-1 Garand rifle and fired it to his elder brother who was hit at the stomach, the police report said.

Neighbors rushed Timmy to Malita District Hospital but he died before reaching the hospital.
