3 pump boats found in Davao coastline
Written by Eldie S. Aguirre and Derek Galeos

Three sea vessels designed as semi-speed boats were found abandoned at the coastline of Barangay Magulibas, Jose Abad Santos, Davao del Sur on Saturday morning, the police report said.
Senior Inspector Flaviano Orellano, Jose Abad Santos police chief said the vessels were all powered by 13 horsepower Kawasaki engines painted with white, blue and white stripes and orange.
Orellano said fishermen found the vessels floating along the coastline prompting them to inform the authorities who immediately went to the area.
The police believed sea pirates steal the sea vessels but deliberately deserted it due to some engine trouble.
The authorities are now calling for the owners of the recovered semi-speed boats to bring pertinent documents to prove their ownership of the respective units before it could be turned over to them.
Orellano theorized the operators of the said vessels could be somewhere in General Santos City or the neighboring towns in Davao del Sur.
Jose Abad Santos, Don Marcelino and Malita towns have been plagued with sea pirates (Ambak-Pare) for several years where police under the maritime command failed to contain.
Pirates often let their victims jump overboard or be shot to death before detaching the boat engines and flee onboard huge and double-engine sea vessels.
Some residents theorized the boats were used for another purpose since the engines are still intact although the police believed it suffered mechanical trouble.
