The eldest son of a former mayor in Davao del Sur was found hanging with a scarf tied on his neck and a wooden beam in his rented room at Padre Selga Street, Bangkerohan, Davao City at about 11 p.m. on Sunday.
Julius Resty Ornales, 19, an engineering student of the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) in Davao City was declared dead upon arrival when brought to a hospital.
Former Sulop town Mayor Restituto Ornales said he was told the unexpected incident could have been triggered by the frequent misunderstanding with his son’s girlfriend – a student of another private school in Davao City.
Engineer Roy Christopher Escalante, one of Julius’ mentors said he was able to read some text messages from the teenager’s cellular phone that could tell they are into a lover’s quarrel.
Escalante also said Julius often told him about his constant disagreement with his lover. He usually arrived late during classes, the teacher said.
Nonetheless, scene of the crime operatives in Davao City are digging deeper over the case to determine if there was a foul play behind his death or it was purely suicide.
Five hours before the incident, Julius joined his sister eating dinner inside a fast food chain in Davao City.
