A Vietnamese money lender died on arrival at Gonzales Medical Clinic and Hospital in this city after two motorcycle-riding gunmen ambushed him at dawn of Wednesday.
Police Officer 1 Bimbo Labajo, Digos City police investigator identified the Vietnamese national as Nguyen Lee, 27, a resident of Tacurong City.

Labajo said the victim was onboard a motorcycle along with his brother Treve Lee and driver Jesse Moratan when the riders of a sports-type motorcycle, that has been trailing their vehicle, shoot them upon reaching the First Crumb Street in Digos City.

Nguyen sustained 4 gunshot wounds at the back of his body while his brother who was seated next to the victim sustained a gunshot wound from the slug that exited out of Nguyen’s body. Doctors declared Treve out of danger.

Chief Inspector Anthony Padua, Digos City police director said Nguyen was paying a visit to his younger brother, Treve, who is temporary residing at First Crumb Street, Digos City.

The police director said the victims came out from a disco pub along Rizal Avenue at about 2 p.m. and headed to the house of Treve situated at First Crumb Street.

Padua said it turned out in their initial investigation that Treve could be the prime target of the attack based on reports that he was engaged in a verbal tussle with another pub costumer prior to the incident.

The police are still verifying the identities of the gunmen while conducting follow up investigation in Tacurong City to check Nguyen’s background to help them expedite the solution of the case. (With reports from Nilo Cobrado, Jay Galeos and Roger Panogadia)
