A collector of St. Peter Insurance Corporation sustained gunshot wound in the body, while the dead body of a 46 year old farmer was found beside a creek in Jose Abad Santos (JAS), Davao del Sur.
Senior Police Officer 2 Louie Tayong, JAS police investigator identified the collector as Edwin Madura, a resident of Sarangani Province; and the farmer as Victoriano Munsad, a resident of Sitio (sub-village) Pulang Lupa, Barangay (village) Caburan Small, Jose Abad Santos.

Doctor Ignacio Matmagan attending physician at Tomas Lachica District Hospital successfully removed the slug of a 12-gauge homemade handgun from Madura’s body. The doctor declared him out of danger.

Madura told the police he was doing a house to house collection onboard his service motorcycle when, at about 5:30 p.m. of June 21, another motorcycle with a lone rider flanked him along the road and signaled him to stop simultaneously pointing a hand gun and declared a holdup.

Sensing he was in big trouble, the collector sped away but the robber, who was apparently irked over his reactions, fired at him from behind hitting his back.

On the other hand, the police investigator said Munsad was already dead when villagers discovered his body lying beside the creek at about 8 a.m. on June 20, just few meters from his residence.

Munsad died from multiple stab wounds where the police believed caused by an ice pick.

Tayong said the victim was last seen alive buying edible oil at a store on the evening of June 19.

The police investigator said they already looking over a lead that could pave the way in solving the crime. (With reports from Nilo Mercado and Marlon Gayog)
