A laborer in Barangay (village) Bangkerohan public market in Davao City who was declared missing since June 15 was found dead along the national highway in Barangay Taguibuli, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur Tuesday morning.
Barely three hours after villagers discovered the dead body lying beside the road; Arsenia Rosales, a resident of Lower Madapo Hills, Barangay 8-A, Bangkerohan, Davao City positively identified the victim to be Roy Rosales - her son who was missing since Sunday.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and torture marks in the body. His wrists were hogtied behind his back and the culprits wrapped Roy’s head with packing tape that appeared like a ‘mummified’ corpse in the ancient times.
The grieving mother told the media some witnesses saw her son forcibly dragged inside a van-type vehicle.
It was the second incident in a span of two days where still unidentified suspects dumped their victims along the Davao City to Makar Road.
On June 15, security guards of Gadeco Banana Plantation in Barangay Guihing, Davao del Sur called for police assistance after hearing a series of gun burst along the national highway.
When Hagonoy police arrived at the crime scene a dead body riddled with bullets slumped beside the road was found.
Inspector Jaime Senarillos, Hagonoy police chief said the victim’s body possessed no documents that could lead investigators to determine his identity.
The police recovered two empty shells of .45 caliber pistol ammunition at the crime scene.
Senarillos described the victim as long-haired, fair complexion, aged 25 to 30 years old and about 5’2” to 5’3” in height. He was wearing a denim pants.
The victim that was brought to Angel Funeral Home in Digos City remained unidentified as of press time.
The police theorized the victim is not a resident of Davao del Sur since nobody was reported missing as per police records.
“He could be picked up from other place and transported here where his abductors killed him after he was tortured along the way,” Senarillos said. (With reports from Roger Panogadia)
