Four inmates who bolted out of Malalag town jail on December 29 are back to their cell after the police launched intensive manhunt operation and information dissemination.

A village official of Barangay Salidocon, Sta. Cruz town in Davao del Sur sustained gunshot wounds in his arm and legs following an attack that took place early in the evening of Saturday.
Police Inspector Rodrigo Tajos, Sta. Cruz police chief identified the victim as Kagawad Jerry Cayog, 40, a resident of Sitio Lower Lib, Barangay Salidocon. |

A ‘tuba’ (coconut wine) gatherer who has a pending murder case is still in serious condition after a still unidentified gunman shot him early on Saturday morning.
Senior Police Officer 2 Louie Tayong, Jose Abad Santos, Davao del Sur police investigator in his report to the PNP headquarters in Digos City said Mario Sinama, 40, was brought to a local hospital due to gunshot wounds at his back and shoulder.
The report said Sinama, a B’laan native was doing his chores as ‘tuba’ gatherer early in the morning on January 03 when the attack was made.
Tayong said the victim was still clinging at the coconut trunk carrying coconut wine inside the bamboo tube attached to his shoulder when the gunman shot him where he fell to the ground.
Luckily, he was still alive when the responding villagers and police personnel arrived.
The police theorized the attack could have been a personal grudge or something to do with his pending murder case before the provincial prosecutor’s office in Digos City. (With reports from Nilo Cobrado)

An elderly woman got a surprise of her life on Saturday morning when she found a fetus near the riverbank at Sitio Kapehan, Barangay Zone-3, Sta. Cruz town.
Lydia Garcia, 54, was cleaning the debris left on the New Year’s festivities in the backyard of her house when she sighted the fetus believed to be thrown during the night.
Garcia immediately called the police to take charge of the situation.
Police Inspector Rodrigo Tungal, Sta. Cruz police chief rushed to the scene and carefully retrieved the fetus where it was brought to St. Joseph Parish Church asking the priest to provide requiem prayer before giving the fetus a formal burial at the town’s cemetery.
Tungal said they are still on the process of investigation as he suspected it was a case of abortion. (With reports from Nilo Cobrado) |

Tons of mud and rock fell into the national highway in Sitio Saladoc, Barangay Kinanga, Don Marcelino, Davao del Sur Monday morning causing traffic jam for at least 7 hours.
Reports from the municipal disaster coordinating council (MDCC) to the PNP provincial headquarters in Digos City said heavy rains sparked the landslide.
Heavy equipments from the town’s engineering department cleared the road from tons of debris.

A businessman and his 11-year old son died from multiple gunshot wounds while his wife and two other children were injured in what appeared to be a massacre on Sunday night.
Senior Supt. Cesario Darantinao, Davao del Sur police director identified the fatalities as Reden Pateros, 40, and his son Christopher Loyd. |
