NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley – The provincial government of Compostela Valley Province recently turned over some P300,000 in checks to the three primary cooperatives representing the first batch of 22 grantees under the Micro Credit Assistance Program, a P2.2 million credit facility for cooperatives in the province.
Governor Arturo T. Uy personally handed over the assistance to Andap Manlawod Tribal Cooperative and Lasting Agricultural Multi-Purpose Cooperative, all in New Bataan town; and San Isidro Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Mawab town during the Monday convocation at the Provincial Capitol here.

MATI, Davao Oriental – Small and big entrepreneurs here will put on show their homegrown products in the Inalima Trade Fair and Exhibit during the 42nd founding anniversary of Davao Oriental on July 1.
The trade fair with its theme “Building the Future by Harnessing Resources, Skills, and Creativity” will give due recognition to the works and creativity of the local producers, and to support the province’ own products.

DAVAO CITY – South Korea is inviting companies engaged in logistics and materials handling which are based in Southern Mindanao to take part in an international exhibit in September this year.
Dubbed as the Incheon International Logistics and Materials Handling Exhibition or Interlogis 2009, the activity will run from September 8 to 11 with an expected 120 exhibitors from all over the world.

DAVAO CITY – Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Davao Region affected by the global financial crisis have already benefited the livelihood projects funded by the P4.7 million of the national government.
At least 94 of the 260 displaced workers availed the loan assistance released through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

DAVAO CITY – A city councilor here urged colleagues in the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) to regulate the carrying of books to school citing the burden of heavy bags full of books to pupils every school day.
Councilor Pilar Braga, chair of the SP committee on energy, transportation, and communication has expressed her concern over the heavy load of books that school children carry every time they go to school.

DAVAO CITY – The Task Force Davao (TFD) led in holding a youth leadership summit (YLS) in Paquibato District to neutralize the young people of getting in the middle of the insurgency war.
The summit aimed to enhance leadership qualities of the youth; guide them in their personal and professional growth; promote cultural sensitivities and advocacy on environment protection; and involve them in peace building activities. |

During a recent meeting with local officials here, Joe Suhyun, general manager of the international convention, told reporters that they selected Southern Mindanao to represent the country in the exhibit due to region’s trade relations with Korea. |
